| Description | The TPIC6B595N is a durable and high-performance 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out power shift register with DMOS open-drain outputs, developed by Texas Instruments for driving medium to high-current loads in industrial and embedded applications. It combines a shift register and output latch, enabling efficient serial data handling with synchronized parallel output control. The device provides eight open-drain output channels, each capable of sinking currents up to approximately 150 mA, making it ideal for controlling relays, solenoids, LED arrays, and other inductive loads. The integrated DMOS output stage ensures low on-resistance and improved thermal performance during high-current operation. The TPIC6B595N operates within a 4.5V to 5.5V supply voltage range and is compatible with TTL and CMOS logic levels, allowing direct interfacing with microcontrollers and digital systems. Data is shifted in serially and latched to outputs via a register clock, providing stable and predictable switching behavior. To enhance reliability, the device includes integrated clamp diodes on each output, protecting against voltage spikes when driving inductive loads. It also supports daisy-chaining (cascading), enabling expansion of output channels in complex systems. Packaged in a 16-pin PDIP through-hole form factor, the TPIC6B595N is suitable for prototyping and robust industrial PCB designs requiring easy handling and assembly.
