| Description | The HC-05 is a widely used Bluetooth serial communication module designed to provide wireless UART connectivity between microcontrollers and Bluetooth-enabled devices such as smartphones and PCs. It operates using Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR protocol in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and supports both master and slave modes for flexible communication setups.
The module typically operates with a supply voltage range of 3.6 V to 6 V and uses 3.3 V logic levels for RX/TX communication. It features a UART interface with configurable baud rates (commonly default 9600 bps) and supports data transfer rates up to around 1–2 Mbps. With a typical communication range of approximately 10 meters (Class 2, ~4 dBm transmit power), the HC-05 provides reliable short-range wireless data transmission. It includes built-in AT command support for configuring parameters such as device name, baud rate, and pairing password (default 1234 or 0000). The HC-05 is widely used in Arduino and embedded systems for wireless control, data logging, robotics, home automation, and IoT applications where simple and cost-effective Bluetooth communication is required. |
