| Description | The TIP122 is an NPN Darlington power transistor designed for high-gain amplification and switching applications. It features a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 100 V and supports continuous collector currents up to approximately 5 A. The Darlington configuration provides very high DC current gain (hFE typically around 1000 or more), allowing it to be driven with low base current. The device includes an internal base-emitter resistor to improve switching performance. Due to its structure, it has a higher saturation voltage compared to standard BJTs (typically around 2 V). The TIP122 is commonly used in motor drivers, relay control, LED driving, power switching circuits, and general-purpose amplification applications. |
