| Description | The ADIS16505-2BMLZ is a high-precision 6 degrees of freedom MEMS inertial measurement unit (IMU) developed by Analog Devices, integrating a triaxial gyroscope and a triaxial accelerometer within a compact industrial-grade module. It is optimized for applications requiring accurate motion sensing, orientation measurement, stabilization, and navigation performance. This device combines a ±500°/s gyroscope dynamic range with a ±8g accelerometer measurement range, enabling precise detection of angular velocity and linear acceleration in demanding motion-control systems. The integrated signal conditioning architecture helps deliver stable and repeatable sensor outputs across a broad range of operating conditions. The ADIS16505-2BMLZ is supplied with extensive factory calibration for sensitivity, bias, alignment, linear acceleration effects, and point-of-percussion compensation, reducing development effort and improving system-level accuracy. This calibration approach minimizes integration complexity compared with discrete sensor implementations. Communication is provided through a SPI-compatible digital interface, allowing efficient connectivity with microcontrollers, embedded processors, DSPs, and FPGA-based control systems. Additional features include programmable operation modes, synchronization capabilities, diagnostic functions, and built-in self-test support for enhanced system reliability. The module operates from a 3.0V to 3.6V supply voltage and supports an industrial operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. Its rugged construction offers excellent resistance to mechanical shock and vibration, making it suitable for harsh environments. Packaged in a compact 100-ball BGA module measuring approximately 15mm × 15mm, the ADIS16505-2BMLZ provides a space-efficient solution for advanced motion sensing applications.
