| Description | The SN74HC165N is an 8-bit parallel-in, serial-out shift register designed for high-speed CMOS logic systems. It operates with a supply voltage range of 2 V to 6 V and allows parallel loading of data through eight input pins followed by serial shifting through the clock input. The device features a clock inhibit input, a serial data input for cascading, and complementary serial outputs (QH and QH̅). It supports clock frequencies up to approximately 25 MHz at 5 V and provides low power consumption typical of HC logic families. The SN74HC165N is commonly used to expand digital input capability for microcontrollers, enabling multiple parallel signals such as switches, sensors, or keypad inputs to be read using a minimal number of microcontroller pins. |
