| Description | The ESP8266EX is a highly integrated Wi-Fi microcontroller system-on-chip (SoC) developed by Espressif Systems for IoT and embedded networking applications. It is built around a 32-bit Tensilica L106 processor running at clock frequencies up to 80 MHz, with an optional overclock to 160 MHz. The device operates with a supply voltage of approximately 3.0–3.6 V and supports external SPI Flash memory for program storage. The ESP8266EX integrates a complete 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi transceiver supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n with TCP/IP stack capability, enabling direct Internet connectivity without an external microcontroller. It provides multiple GPIO pins along with integrated peripherals such as UART, SPI, I²C (via software), I²S, PWM outputs, and a 10-bit ADC channel. Additional features include power-saving sleep modes, RF calibration, integrated PLL and power amplifier, and flexible clock options, making the chip suitable for smart home devices, wireless sensors, IoT gateways, and embedded Wi-Fi communication systems. |
