| Description | The DS1307N+ is a reliable real-time clock (RTC) and calendar IC developed by Analog Devices (Maxim Integrated), designed to provide accurate timekeeping and date management in embedded systems. It maintains full calendar functionality including seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year with automatic leap-year compensation. The device features 56 bytes of battery-backed non-volatile SRAM, allowing storage of user data even when the main power supply is removed, making it ideal for backup and low-power applications. It communicates via a simple 2-wire I2C serial interface, enabling easy integration with microcontrollers and minimizing required I/O pins. The DS1307N+ includes an internal power-fail detection circuit that automatically switches to a backup battery supply when the main power is lost, ensuring continuous timekeeping operation. It operates with a main supply voltage of approximately 4.5V to 5.5V and a backup battery voltage range of 2V to 3.5V, providing flexibility for various system designs. With very low power consumption in backup mode (typically less than 500nA), it ensures long battery life in standby conditions.
