| Description | The ESP-01S (ESP8266) is a compact and cost-effective Wi-Fi module based on the ESP8266EX SoC developed by Espressif Systems. It integrates a 32-bit Tensilica L106 microcontroller with a full TCP/IP protocol stack, enabling direct Wi-Fi connectivity for embedded systems and IoT applications. Operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards, the ESP-01S provides reliable wireless communication for a wide range of applications including smart home devices, wireless sensors, and remote control systems. The module communicates via a UART interface and comes preloaded with AT command firmware, allowing easy integration with microcontrollers such as Arduino without requiring complex networking stacks. It can also be programmed as a standalone microcontroller for custom applications. Compared to the original ESP-01, the ESP-01S version offers improved stability with onboard pull-up resistors and typically includes 1MB flash memory, enabling more robust firmware storage and operation. With its small DIP-8 form factor, onboard PCB antenna, and low power consumption modes, the ESP-01S is widely used in IoT, home automation, industrial monitoring, and serial-to-Wi-Fi communication systems where compact size and low cost are critical. |
