| Description | The PCA9685PW,118 is a highly integrated 16-channel PWM LED driver developed by NXP Semiconductors, designed for precise control of LEDs, servos, and other PWM-based devices via an I2C interface. Each of the 16 output channels features independent 12-bit PWM resolution (4096 steps), allowing fine-grained brightness or position control. Operating with a supply voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V, the device supports Fast-mode Plus (Fm+) I2C communication up to 1 MHz, enabling high-speed data transfer and efficient multi-device communication. The PWM frequency is programmable (typically from ~24 Hz to 1.5 kHz), making it suitable for both LED dimming and servo motor control applications. Each output can sink up to 25 mA and can be configured as open-drain or totem-pole, allowing direct LED driving or control of external power stages. The device also supports staggered output timing to reduce inrush current and improve system stability. Housed in a compact TSSOP-28 surface-mount package and supplied in tape-and-reel format, the PCA9685PW,118 is widely used in applications such as LED lighting systems, RGB backlighting, robotics (servo control), industrial automation, and IoT-based control systems requiring multiple PWM outputs. |
