| Description | The SN74HC164DR is a high-speed CMOS 8-bit serial-in parallel-out shift register designed for data expansion and serial-to-parallel conversion applications. It operates over a supply voltage range of 2.0V to 6.0V and features low power consumption with typical quiescent current in the microampere range. The device supports clock frequencies up to approximately 25 MHz at 5V and provides output drive capability up to ±6 mA. It includes two serial data inputs (A and B) allowing flexible data entry control and an asynchronous clear input for resetting all outputs. Typical propagation delay is around 13–25 ns, with input leakage current below 1 µA. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C, and the SOIC-14 package makes it suitable for LED driving, data communication, and digital interface applications. |
