| Description | The IRM-3638T is a compact infrared (IR) remote control receiver module developed by Everlight Electronics, designed for reliable reception of IR signals in consumer and industrial electronics. It operates at a 38 kHz carrier frequency, which is the most commonly used standard for IR remote control systems. The module integrates a PIN photodiode and preamplifier in a single package, along with an internal band-pass filter tuned to the carrier frequency. This allows it to directly demodulate IR signals and output clean digital pulses that can be easily processed by microcontrollers. Operating with a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and low current consumption (~0.5–1 mA), the IRM-3638T is suitable for low-power and embedded applications. It offers a typical reception distance of up to 14 meters, along with strong immunity to ambient light and electrical noise, ensuring stable performance even in challenging environments. The device features a wide reception angle (approximately ±35° to ±45°) and high sensitivity at a peak wavelength of 940 nm, making it compatible with standard IR transmitters used in remote controls. Packaged in a through-hole DIP-3 form factor, the IRM-3638T is easy to integrate into PCB designs and prototyping environments. It is widely used in applications such as TVs, set-top boxes, air conditioners, consumer electronics, home automation systems, and Arduino-based IR projects where reliable remote signal reception is required. |
