| Description | The SN65LVDS1DBVR is a high-speed Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) line driver from Texas Instruments, designed for fast point-to-point data transmission with low power consumption and low electromagnetic emissions. The device converts a single-ended LVTTL logic input into a differential LVDS output suitable for transmission over controlled-impedance PCB traces, twisted-pair cables, and other differential interconnects. The SN65LVDS1DBVR supports signaling rates of up to 630Mbps, making it suitable for high-speed digital communication, clock distribution, data acquisition systems, imaging equipment, industrial electronics, and communication between processors, FPGAs, DSPs, and peripheral devices. The device complies with or exceeds the requirements of the ANSI TIA/EIA-644 LVDS standard. LVDS uses a small differential voltage swing to provide high data rates while reducing switching power and electromagnetic interference compared with conventional single-ended signaling techniques. The SN65LVDS1DBVR operates from a low supply voltage range of 2.4V to 3.6V, making it particularly suitable for 3.3V digital systems. Its low-voltage architecture allows straightforward integration with modern microcontrollers, FPGAs, ASICs, DSPs, and other low-voltage digital logic. The driver accepts a LVTTL-compatible single-ended input and produces a complementary differential LVDS output. The driver input is also 5V tolerant, providing additional flexibility when interfacing with logic devices operating at higher input signal levels. The LVDS output provides a typical differential output voltage of approximately 350mV across a 100Ω differential load. The low differential swing significantly reduces power consumption while maintaining excellent noise immunity through differential signal transmission. The SN65LVDS1DBVR provides a typical driver propagation delay of approximately 1.7ns. Its high-speed switching characteristics support reliable transmission of fast digital signals while minimizing timing delay in performance-sensitive communication paths. Power consumption is optimized for high-speed applications. Typical driver power dissipation is approximately 25mW at 200MHz, enabling high data throughput without the relatively high power requirements associated with larger-voltage differential or single-ended interfaces. The differential architecture provides excellent immunity to common-mode noise because interference coupled equally into both signal conductors is largely rejected by the receiving differential interface. This makes LVDS particularly useful in electrically noisy systems and densely populated high-speed digital designs. The bus terminals provide robust electrostatic-discharge protection, with ESD protection exceeding 9kV. This improves device robustness during manufacturing, assembly, handling, and normal system operation. An additional protection feature places the driver output into a high-impedance state when VCC falls below approximately 1.5V. This behavior helps prevent an unpowered or partially powered device from significantly loading an active differential bus during system power sequencing. The device operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for industrial control, instrumentation, communication, embedded computing, and other applications exposed to extended environmental temperatures. The SN65LVDS1DBVR is supplied in a compact 5-pin SOT-23 package, identified by Texas Instruments package code DBV. The small surface-mount package minimizes PCB area and is particularly suitable for space-constrained high-speed interface designs. The R suffix specifies large tape-and-reel packaging. The SN65LVDS1DBVR is supplied in a standard reel quantity of 3000 pieces, making it suitable for automated high-volume SMT production. The combination of 630Mbps signaling capability, 2.4V to 3.6V operation, LVTTL input, 5V input tolerance, approximately 350mV LVDS differential output, low propagation delay, low power consumption, and compact SOT-23-5 packaging makes the SN65LVDS1DBVR an efficient solution for high-speed differential data transmission. The SN65LVDS1DBVR is widely used in high-speed point-to-point data links, FPGA interfaces, DSP systems, industrial communication equipment, data acquisition systems, clock distribution networks, imaging equipment, test and measurement instruments, telecommunications equipment, embedded computers, digital signal processing systems, backplane interfaces, and other high-speed LVDS communication applications. |
