| Description | The A21SP16J is a compact, high-efficiency Class-D mono audio power amplifier developed by STMicroelectronics. Designed for portable and battery-powered applications, it delivers up to 3 W into a 4 Ω load and 1.75 W into an 8 Ω load at a 5 V supply with 10% total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N). For applications requiring lower distortion, it provides 2.3 W into 4 Ω and 1.4 W into 8 Ω at 1% THD+N. Operating over a supply voltage range of 2.4 V to 5.5 V, the amplifier maintains a typical efficiency of 88%, making it ideal for energy-sensitive devices. It features an adjustable gain via external resistors, a low standby current of 10 nA, and a typical operating current of 2 mA at 3 V. The amplifier boasts a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 85 dB and a power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) of 63 dB at 217 Hz with 6 dB gain. With a PWM base frequency of 250 kHz, it ensures efficient audio amplification. Additional features include thermal shutdown protection and low pop & click noise during power transitions. The device is housed in a 9-bump flip-chip package measuring 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm, suitable for compact designs in wearables, mobile devices, and healthcare applications. |
