The NE555 Timer IC, often simply referred to as the 555 Timer, is a highly versatile and widely used integrated circuit. Introduced in 1972 by Signetics, it has since become a staple in electronic projects and circuits due to its reliability and simplicity.

The NE555 can be configured in three main modes of operation: Astable, Monostable, and Bistable. It is used in applications such as pulse generation, timing circuits, oscillators, and flip-flop circuits.
