Description The MAX487ECSA+T is a robust and low-power RS-485/RS-422 half-duplex transceiver developed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated, engineered for reliable data communication in industrial and noise-sensitive environments. It integrates one driver and one receiver in a single compact device, enabling efficient bidirectional data transmission over differential bus systems.

This transceiver operates with a single 5V supply (4.75V to 5.25V) and supports data transmission rates up to 250kbps, making it ideal for stable, error-free communication over long cable distances. The device features a slew-rate limited driver, which minimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI) and reduces signal reflections, ensuring reliable performance even in improperly terminated networks.

The MAX487ECSA+T includes ±15kV ESD protection on driver outputs and receiver inputs, providing strong immunity against electrostatic discharge and enhancing durability in harsh industrial conditions. It also supports up to 128 transceivers on a single bus, thanks to its quarter-unit load input structure, allowing scalable network designs.

Designed for low power consumption, the device draws as little as 120µA quiescent current, making it suitable for energy-efficient systems and battery-powered applications. It also incorporates thermal shutdown and current limiting protection, ensuring safe operation under fault conditions.

Encapsulated in a compact 8-pin SOIC surface-mount package, the MAX487ECSA+T is optimized for space-constrained PCB designs while maintaining reliable electrical characteristics and ease of integration.
