| Description | The WS2812S is a side-emitting intelligent RGB LED that integrates a control IC and RGB LED chip into a 5050 SMD package with lateral light output. It operates with a supply voltage range of approximately 3.5 V to 5.3 V and uses a single-wire serial communication protocol, allowing multiple LEDs to be cascaded and individually controlled.
Each LED supports 24-bit color depth (8 bits per channel), enabling over 16 million colors with precise brightness control. The device includes built-in signal reshaping and amplification circuitry, ensuring reliable data transmission across long LED chains. It also features constant current driving for consistent brightness and uniform color output. The side-view design makes the WS2812S ideal for edge lighting, backlighting, light guides, and applications where horizontal light emission is required. It is widely used in LED strips, display edges, signage, decorative lighting, and compact embedded lighting systems. |
