TPL5110QDDCRQ1

Part Number TPL5110QDDCRQ1
Manufacturer Texas Instruments Official Vector Logo Texas Instruments
Description The TPL5110QDDCRQ1 is an automotive-grade, nano-power system timer with an integrated MOSFET driver, designed for power-gating applications. It operates within a supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V and consumes a typical current of 35 nA at 2.5V, making it highly energy-efficient. The device offers selectable timing intervals from 100 milliseconds to 7200 seconds, with a typical timer accuracy of 1%. It features a resistor-selectable time interval, manual MOSFET power-on capability, and a unique one-shot function where the timer powers the MOSFET for a single cycle. Qualified for automotive applications, the TPL5110QDDCRQ1 meets AEC-Q100 standards, operating over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is available in a compact 6-pin SOT-23 package.

How it works, in short:

  1. You connect the system's power supply through the TPL5110.
    • It acts like a smart switch.
  2. The TPL5110 turns ON the system at a set interval (adjustable via a resistor or jumper).
    • This is the timer interval (from ~100ms to 2 hours).
  3. Your system does its job (e.g., read sensor, transmit data), then signals the TPL5110 it's done by pulling the DONE pin high.
  4. TPL5110 cuts the power, putting the whole system to sleep until the next interval.

Key Pins:

  • VDD – Power to the timer itself.
  • DRIVE – Output to power your system (goes high when ON).
  • DONE – Your system pulls this HIGH to say "I’m finished."
  • DELAY/MODE – Sets the timer interval using a resistor.

Why use it?

It draws very little current (~30nA) when waiting, making it perfect for battery-powered projects.
