| Description | The LTC1386IS#PBF is a compact and energy-efficient RS-232/EIA-TIA-562 full-duplex transceiver developed by Analog Devices, designed for reliable serial communication in low-power embedded systems. It integrates two drivers and two receivers (2Tx/2Rx), enabling bidirectional data transmission between logic-level devices and RS-232 compatible interfaces. This device operates from a single 3.3V supply voltage (3.0V to 3.6V), making it ideal for modern low-voltage systems. It incorporates an internal charge pump circuit that generates the required RS-232 voltage levels using only a few external capacitors, reducing component count and PCB space. The LTC1386IS#PBF supports data rates up to approximately 120 kbps and features full-duplex communication capability, ensuring stable and efficient serial data exchange. It also offers a very low supply current, typically around 200 µA, making it suitable for battery-powered and portable applications. Designed for robustness, the device provides strong protection features including ESD protection up to ±10kV and the ability to withstand input voltages up to ±25V without damage, ensuring reliable operation in electrically noisy environments. The IC operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and offers a typical receiver hysteresis of 400 mV, improving noise immunity in communication lines. Packaged in a space-saving 16-pin SOIC surface-mount package, the LTC1386IS#PBF is optimized for compact PCB layouts and high-density designs.
