| Description | The AMS1117-3.3 is a low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulator designed to provide a stable 3.3 V fixed output for embedded and digital electronics. The device can supply up to 1 A output current and operates with input voltages up to about 15–18 V depending on manufacturer variant. It features a typical dropout voltage around 1.2–1.4 V at full load, allowing efficient regulation even when the input voltage is only slightly higher than the output voltage. The regulator includes internal current limiting and thermal shutdown protection to enhance reliability during overload or overheating conditions. Packaged commonly in SOT-223 surface-mount format, the AMS1117-3.3 requires only a few external capacitors for stable operation. It is widely used in power supply circuits for microcontrollers, Wi-Fi modules, sensors, and embedded systems where a stable 3.3 V rail is required. |
